Enter the city

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Our brave orphans are finally taking the war to the enemy. With the rats on their side, Vitalis does not stand a chance. To meet this objective, all we need to do is follow Mélie. What can go wrong, right? Along your way, pick up 2 x Sulphur, 2 x Rocks, Episanguis, Fabric and Salpeter.

Reach the cathedral

Chapter 16: Coronation: Our orphans are on the final part of their assault on Vitalis.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – With the two heavy guards after Lucas and Mélie, Amicia, Rodric and Hugo will be able to take out the lone remaining guard. Command Rodric to do what he does best. In the area are also some Rocks and Episanguis.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Move forward a few steps after taking the guard out, and to the right of this white cross on the fence, there is an entrance. Go in there.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Let Rodric take out the guard, and enter Alchemist Cart 5/5. There are lots of things to pick up here: Cord, Leather, Alcohol and Rocks. At this point I had all I needed to complete all my upgrades for the Steam Achievement. Now go back to the main path and pick up Salpeter ahead.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – The two guards ahead can be taken out with rats. To do so, simply take out the torch ahead, and the rats will appear. Guide them with Imperius to the guards. After this rather painless operation, pick up the nearby Salpeter and move on. There is also some Sulphur in a small alley to the left a little further down.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Douse these two torches to let more rats come out of the ground. Walk forward and when the two guards appear, take them out with rocks and rats. It’s pretty easy. Before moving on, duck into an ally on the right of this screen, and pick up Curiosity 25: Discipline at the feet of a dead guard.
Chapter 16: Coronation. The guard with the bow and arrows is dangerous if you do not realize he is there. Be careful.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Up on that balcony there is a guard with a bow. Take him out with rocks. Another guard with helmet will go check on him if he s nearby, but whether he does or not does not matter. With full upgrades, you can hit his helmet with a rock to take it off, then hit his head again.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – If you need more rats, take out this lantern ahead. They come in handy in a minute or two.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Take out the torch of the knight ahead. It will attract his attention and making him come for you. When he gets close to the rats, take the torch out again. He is done for. Now the immediate area is clear, and you can pick up a few things before going to where the guard stood: 2 x Alcohol, Tools, Cord, Fabric, 2 x Salpeter, 2 x Episanguis, 2 x Sulphur and Rocks
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Now crawl under those burning beams after cleaning up the area before. There will be two guards towards the children’s right.
Chapter 16: Coronation. Let Roderic take the right guard while Amica take out the left one.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Like in Chapter 10, Amicia needs to take one out the one without the helmet while Rodric takes the other one with the helmet. Timing is everything. After taking the guards out, Amicia can pick up Rocks and Alcohol. Tell Rodric to open the portcullis ahead, and go through.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Once through the portcullis, hide behind this cart. Take out the nearby lantern to unleash more rats. Take out two of the guards with rats. The guards in the distance are alerted now, so be careful and stay out of sight. A third one that investigates can be taken out by two rocks against the head.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – To the right (from Amicia’s view) of the guard is a torch. Douse it with Exstinguis to unleash more rats. You’re going to need them later. Now crouch to the left of this cart to get closer in order to take that guard out. He’s got a bow, so be vigilant. When he is out, Amicia can grab some resources: 3 x Rocks, Episanguis, 2 x Leather, 2 x Pots, Cord, Salpeter and Fabric.

Eliminate the patrol

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Note the big wooden door on the right. Once Rodric tries to open the door to the burning house, this door will open, and a battalion of guards will storm you. They will also come through the area to the left of the portcullis. Except for the last one, you can make light work of them all with rocks. If they are lightly armored or have no helmets, you can use rocks to take them out. If they have lanterns, they are most likely heavily armored. Take the lanterns out, and use rats to devour them.
Chapter 16: Coronation. Amicia can take out most of the guards with her sling, but for some, she needs the rats!
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Take the last heavy guard with the lantern out by dousing his lantern, and let the rats do their job. Rodric will open the door, and the next objective starts. Now quickly make a detour to through the now open heavy wooden door where the patrol came in, and pick up Herbarium 13: Christmas Rose.

Find the exit to the house

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Enter the burning house, pick up resources along the way. Amicia can pick up Episanguis, Rocks and Salpeter . Go to the right inside the house, and follow the path. Douse the flames blocking your way, and keep moving forward. Through the door, pick up Cord, Leather and Fabric.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Ask Roderic to open this burning door and go through.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – At the next blocked door, here, douse the flames in front of the shelf blocking the way, and ask Rodric to move it as well. Inside the new room is a Pot and some Sulphur. Pick them up and open the door to go outside.

Reach the cathedral

Chapter 16: Coronation. This is gonna hurt, as Roderic would say.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Once outside, let Rodric take out the guard ahead of you. In this area, before moving on, Amicia can pick up Sulphur, Salpeter and 2 x Alcohol.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Move forward slowly, wait for the guard you see to move along, and when you get to this point shown above, take out the guards quickly with rocks. There is also Sulphur and some Rocks here. Once the guards are out, the captives will run and be shot by archers. You can’t save them.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Once the captives are killed, you need to follow suit, but if you go immediately, you’ll be killed. Rather pick up the goodies here (Leather, Cord and Fabric), then move to the right.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Before operating the cart, explore to the right of this screen. There is a metal door that is locked from the other side. Go there to break the chain with a well-slung rock, then go around through the gate you opened. Follow Rodric to his father’s torched blacksmith shop. Doing so will earn you the chapter-specific trophy, The Blacksmith. Pick up Alcohol and 2 x Episanguis while you’re at it. Now go back to the cart, and operate it.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – When Amicia tries to operate the cart, Rodric pushes her away. He will handle the cart, but Amicia must take out any threats along their way. Let the fun begin!

Join Mélie and Lucas while protecting yourself with the cart

Chapter 16: Coronation. Stay near the back wheel of the cart to prevent getting hit.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – While Rodric is pushing the cart, stay protected to the left side of it from the archers ahead. Take out any guards you encounter on the way. There are rocks and some other resources to pick up along the way. There may not be enough time to pick them all up, but if you picked up most resources as stated, you should be fully upgraded by now.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – The first guards are coming from the front. Take them out.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Once Amica and Hugo go down the stairs, there are a few things to pick up. I am going to stop mentioning them now, because they should be immaterial by now. Guards are now coming from behind. Turn around and take them out, but ensure you’re always protected by the moving cart.
Chapter 16: Coronation. Oh, Rodric... :-(
A Plague Tale: Innocence – This is where I would’ve made the game differently. Rodric dies here. There is NOTHING you can do. I would’ve made this a VERY difficult achievement where you could perhaps save Rodric. At the end of this cutscene, the objective is complete.

Reach the cathedral

A Plague Tale: Innocence – After the cutscene, Mélie is very upset. Understandably so. But when she sees the Hugo can control the rats, she vows revenge, nd promises that she will help save Beatrice if Hugo helps destroy the Inquisition. A deal is forged. Walk forward here, and take out the lantern of the guard hiding there. Make sure he sees Amicia and Hugo, so that he comes for them and not Mélie and Lucas. When he gets close, unleash some rats on him.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – After taking out the heavily armored guard with rats, there are lots of things to pick up. Do not go to close or you will be seen. Take guards out first if you want to explore freely. You can pick up 1 x Fabric, 2 x Leather, 2 x Rocks, 2 x Salpeter, 1 x Alcohol, 2 x Sulphur, 1 x Tools. Don’t go further than the workbench before taking more soldiers out.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Our orphans’ final destination is ahead. There are many guards to take out here. Be careful. I found it easiest to got forward here, slowly, until you see this guard. Take out his lamp and let the rats take him out for you. This alerts all the guards in the area – be ready. You can take all of them out with rocks if you are fully upgraded, they do not have heavy armor.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – After taking the archers out behind the gallows ahead, Amicia can go and explore around and find more items: 3 x Rocks, Sulphur, Fabric, 3 x Episanguis, Cord and 3 x Alcohol. Before joining Mélie and Lucas on the gallows, pick up Curiosity 26: Inquisitor’s Manual to the right of the stairs.
Chapter 16: Coronation. Taking the fight to Vitalis!
A Plague Tale: Innocence – At this time, once you step down from the gallows, more guards are being alerted. If you need to pick up items (there is at least: Rocks, Sulphur, Episanguis), do that before going up the stairs ahead. Take most of the guards out with rocks. Pay special attention to the archers, or Amicia will die. The last two heavy guards have lanterns, so shoot out the lanterns and let the rats take them. Objective complete.

Kill Vitalis

A Plague Tale: Innocence – After the cutscene, it is time for the final difficult objective: to kill Vitalis, who has since also crossed the Threshold.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – The fight against Vitalis has two parts. The first part, Hugo must use Imperium to form eddies of rats to take down The Angels (white rats). The key here is to always be amongst black rats, and balance between moving forward and taking out the flames ahead as you progress. Vitalis will light more fires as you move along. Do not move ahead to fast. Take your time – there is resources on the sides of the lanes, if you need.
Once you have taken out about 8 Angel eddies, and progressively moved forward, the first part of the fight is over, and Mélie and Lucas will let down Beatrice’s cage, and the final part of the fight will start. Amicia needs to hit Vitalis in the head with a rock 3 times when the time is right.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – As before, Amicia needs to be among black rats, but this time as well, Amicia needs to keep the path clear of white rats (Angels). So – move as far left and right between Vitalis’s attacks. Avoid letting the rat towers fall on Amicia, or dig up the earth directly under her. Timing is everything here. After 3 rounds, Vitalis will be dead. The following screenshots will show you how.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – When Hugo warns you, you need to run in the opposite direction to where the Angels are going. If you are amongst black rats, they will land to the sides and the center path will remain clear. Zig-zag between left and right 2 times.
Chapter 16: Coronation. Keep the middle lane clear for Hugo's rats!
A Plague Tale: Innocence – After the second time, focus on Vitalis, and press Q to let Hugo send an eddie of rats to Vitalis. After this, shoot a rock at his head, and round 1 is over. 2 to go.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – When the rats tunnel into the ground like shown above, do not move immediately, wait until the ground shakes under Amicia, then sprint to the other side. This time, Amicia also has to douse a flame between attacks to keep the center path clear for black rats. After 3 attacks, send rats at Vitalis again, and hit his head with a stone after that. Round 2 over.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – To keep the center path clear, go as far as possible east and west and as close to the whiter rats as possible. You need to contain most of the fight before the aisle narrows, or the center path will be blocked for Hugo’s rats. The delay between Vitalis’ attacks become shorter, so for the final round, do not go as far east and west as you can, but rather just ensure that the center path remains clear, and you take out any light sources.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – After the final stone hits Vitalis’ head, he will die an agonizing death. Our orphans have won!
Chapter 16: Coronation. An almost touching end to Vitalis.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – With this cutscene, Chapter 16: Coronation ends.
