Look for the medicine in Hugo’s wing

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Our orphan adventurers travel to Amicia’s and find that the rats have taken over. The bridge is broken, so find another crossing, and pick up some items on the way: Rocks, Cord and Alcohol.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Why are the rats not attacking them? And what is this synchronization in their movements? You’ll soon find out! Pick up some Episanguis nearby. The rats will block your progress. Find another way. Near the top of your alternate route, is a cart (and some Rocks).
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Shoot the chain that is holding the cart back, and it will roll down the hill and drive the rats away. Now you can go back to take the original route you wanted to take.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Before going to the domain “straight ahead” (left side of the screen above), make a detour to the right – some handy items here, and a collectible. Go up the hill.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Throw an Odoris to the right where the cart tracks are to draw the rats out of the building in front of Lucas. Then light the embers to trap them there, and enter the building. Pick up Salpeter and Sulphur on your way in. Inside, you will find Alcohol, Leather, Sulphur, a chest with 2 x Fabric, and finally, you can pick up Gift 11: Calamus. Now exit the building.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Now go to the arched structure shown in the far right above. It is teeming with rats, but there are lots of items in there (Leather, 2 x Salpeter, 2 x Cord, 2 x Fabric and Tools). Luminosa is the obvious choice here, but it is possible, if you’re fast, to do it with 2 x Odoris. Depends how hard you want to make it on yourself. But do yourself a favour. Use the Luminosa…
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Explore the area where Lucas is near the gate. Pick up Rocks near the fence, near the gate you can find Alcohol, Sulphur and Episanguis.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Go back down the slope while Lucas is operating the light beam. He will move as you move, so you can get to the next light source ahead.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Once you’re through the first bunch of rats, shoot the chain that holds the locked gate, then operate the beam so that Lucas can join you. Operate the light beam again so that you can move to the guard under the lamp (the next light source). On your way to this light source is Episanguis and Salpeter. Talk to the guard. Throw Odoris behind you to distract the rats, then run to the cart and a second guard.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Talk to this guard. Here, you can unlock the trophy Merciful. To unlock it, simply do not throw Exstinguis to the torch above him. That is really tough to do if you’re playing the violent way 😀 To south-east of this scene, you can throw Odoris behind the cart, then light a torch and climb over the fence. There are some items to pick up in a tent: Alcohol, Rocks and Sulphur. Hardly worth it, but still, I could not leave well alone…
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Throw Odoris towards the large door, then run to the brazier ahead. Pick up the items you can find: 2 x Salpeter, Alcohol and Leather. Worth it? Yes, if you’re low on leather. Now throw Odoris again near the door, and run back to Lucas. Now extinguish the brazier and throw Odoris near the flame, and quickly run to open the large wooden door with Lucas, before the rats come back.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Once you enter the area behind the large wooden door, the orphans will see Amicia’s father’s body – untouched by the rats. This is a mystery of the game. I asked a question about this on Arqade. Then the rats take it! Now you understand why the rats did not attack the orphans at the start of this chapter. They are now able to form eddies of rats, and extinguish flames. Be ready to defend yourself, then take the torch from Lucas and move on.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – After destroying 4 eddies of rats with your sling loaded with Ignifer, you can move on. Pick up Rocks, Alcohol and Sulphur. Nearby is also Episanguis and Leather. Now move into the building.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Another body untouched by the rats. As in my Arqade question above, it may have something to do with Hugo’s sentimental connections with some people. Here you can pick up Sulphur, Alcohol, Salpeter and Episanguis. Move to the next room, and pick up Sulphur, Salpeter and Curiosity 21 Harnois Helmet.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Now go on, and climb the spiral staircase. Halfway up, put your light in the holder and climb up further with Lucas.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Another mystery – the rats are now ignoring you again as long as you don’t go to close, and converging towards Hugo’s room.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Just out of curiosity, I tested the instruction we received earlier, in chapter 7, that if we have Luminosa in our inventory, we can escape the rats if we get attacked. Yes, it works.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Keep hugging the wall to Amicia’s right. The rats will leave you alone, and enter the first room on your right – Beatrice’s study. Interact with the books. Pick up Episanguis, Alcohol, Sulphur, Salpeter, Cord and 2 x Fabric. Now move on to Hugo’s room.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Mysteriously, Hugo’s room is left untouched by the rats. Possibly related to the same reason the bodies were left untouched. In the room you can pick up Rocks, Alcohol and Sulphur.

Leave the house

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Leave the room through the closed door, and notice the rats regrouping. Now is a good time to craft some Ignifer if you’re low. Eddies of rats are forming and are coming for you. Take them out. I find it easier to wait and let them get close to me and through the Ignifer instead. Only two Ignifers needed – Lucas will light the room. Once you’re in the light, pick up Alcohol and Sulphur, then go down the hole in the floor.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Before leaving the house through the door in the last room, you can pick up Sulphur, Episanguis and Alcohol.

Find the medicine in Beatrice’s laboratory

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Once outside the house, you will noticed the baths in the distance. Before going there, veer off to the left to pick up Herbarium 9 Cinquefoil. There is also Alcohol, Rocks and Episanguis here.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Once you get down the stairs, you need to light the haystack just out of view to the right, and in quick succession, the torch in the distance. The haystack will burn quickly, so there is no time to waste.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – When you get to the torch, look left. Here is Alchemist Cart 4/5. Better ask Lucas to stay here. Light the beam in the distance. Then throw an Odoris in the ally to Amicia’s left, and dart towards the light, and enter the cart. Here you can pick up 2 x Salpeter, Fabric, Tools, Leather and Cord and also upgrade your equipment.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Rejoin Lucas by going back the way you came. Run to the end of the visible light, then throw Odoris to Amicia’s right, and join Lucas. Back at Lucas, you can pick up Rocks, Alcohol and Sulphur.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Pick up 2 x Rocks, 2 x Alcohol, 2 x Sulphur and stock up on the Ignifer. Again, I found it easier to throw them at the rats as they get closer (but not too close). Light the cart and get going.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Along the way there are Episanguis, Sulphur, Alcohol and Rocks. If I counted correctly, you need about 8 Ignifers to take out all the eddies of rats.

Find Beatrice’s laboratory

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Now that you’ve passed the rats, you can start looking for Beatrice’s laboratory. Go through the arch to see Lambert, another untouched body. Pick up the Episanguis. Now go back and take the staircase down on Amicia’s left.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Eventually, you will get to a room with a brazier. Here you can pick up Sulphur, Rocks, Salpeter, Alcohol and 2 x Episanguis. There is a fresco against the wall. Go there if you want to interact with it. Doubt it is necessary.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – You need to push the crate on Amica’s left away to go into the next section, but you need to get rid of the rats first. Easiest is, of course, Luminosa. There may be trickier and cheaper ways, but if you picked up all the items you could as we went along, you won’t be running out of rare materials to get 100% completion. Extinguish the torch, throw Odoris in the middle of that alcove, and then… as Lucas would say… “Luminosa!”.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Now you can move the crate to continue. There is Leather where the rats were. Move through the archway ahead.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – Trapped rats here. Explore freely. Pick up some items: Cord and Salpeter. The last basin in front has been lit and the floor cave in. Go in there.
A Plague Tale: Innocence – So, here Amicia has to light two more fire pits. Each pit has some twigs she can use. Crawl through these spaces with a lit twig and light both, but hurry. There are lots to pick up here as well: 2 x Episanguis, Cord and Fabric.

Find the medicine in Beatrice’s laboratory

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Amicia and Lucas have found Beatrice’s lab, but it is pitch dark. Lucas will light the first one. Amicia can wait for Lucas to light a few more, but it goes quicker if she just does it herself. Once all is lit, pick up everything: 4 x Sulphur, 4 x Alcohol, 2 x Rocks, Salpeter, Fabric and Curiosity 22, Family Tree. Where Lucas is standing, open the box in the back, and it concludes the objective.

Find the Macerate in the pharmacopeia

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Move the center light beam to the curtain, so that you can pick up the left-most ingredient behind the curtain. This is what Lucas needs: Macerate. Stock up on Ignifer first before taking the Macerate, if you have to. You’re gonna need it.

Bring Lucas the Macerate

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Rush back to Lucas with the Macerate and get ready to defend Lucas!

Defend Lucas while he prepares the remedy

A Plague Tale: Innocence – Move to the center alcove, and light all lights the eddies extinguished on the way. Then move the beam so that Lucas can get to the two objects shown at the back. Be ready to take out more eddies!

Bring Lucas to the central alcove

A Plague Tale: Innocence – More rats will come, and Lucas needs to get to Amicia in the central alcove. I did not even have to do anything, but you may have to throw an Ignifer. My light beam was perfectly positioned. Excuse the duplicated screenshot – this objective is so short, I had not time to grab a new one 😀

Defend Lucas while he prepares the remedy

A Plague Tale: Innocence – You will need to take out 5 or 6 eddies of rats now. Again, I found it best to throw them. The sling is too slow. Once they are taken out, Lucas completes the elixir, and a cutscene shows where the rats “know” that the cure is ready. And so, Chapter 12: All That Remains ends.
